Horses are the backbone of our sport! We owe everything we do to these wonderful animals. As trainers, we are with our horses everyday, working on new things and refining what they already know. 18+ hand draft horses are very different from those of smaller size and different temperament, which makes training them unique. Here's your chance to learn a little more about each of the horses that carry Big Horse Productions to new heights.

Driving Horse Connection is proud to be working with Big Horse Productions. Assisting in the selection of magnificent Belgian horses anddesigning their underlying attire for comfort and workability.
Driving Horse Connection is a full service driving horse training center dedicated to the driving horse. Training, lessons, sales, consulting, showing and much, much more is offered at Driving Horse Connection. Located just 35 miles north of the Mile High City of Denver, CO..
Be sure to contact Driving Horse Connection for all your driving horse needs, big or small.

COMET

Comet is an 11 year old Belgian gelding. He stands 18.1 hands tall. Comet was born on a farm in Colorado called Mountain View Belgians, owned by Dennis Kuehl. He began his career at an early age (4), performing in his first show with only three months of training! He is very skilled in Vaulting, Roman Riding, and Dressage. Since then, his career has consisted of mostly performances, with a few competitions along the way. Comet also accompanied Alethea and Erik while they were on tour with the traveling show “Cavalia” for two years. In total, Comet has performed in over 1,000 shows with Big Horse Productions! He is the most consistent horse in the group and very loved by anyone who spends a little time around him!

BADGE

Badge is 7 years old and a loved member of the big horse family. He was also born at the Mountain View Belgian farm in Longmont, CO. He is 18.2 hands tall. Badge made his debut Roman Riding at Pat Parelli's Savvy conference in September 2005. Since then, he he has been from San Diego to Massachusetts performing in the Roman Riding acts, as well as in the vaulting circle. Badge is skilled under saddle and does consistent weekly dressage work, as well as his trick training (his favorite!) He is full of personality and is definitely appreciated at his home in Las Vegas!

DOC

Doc is a 16 year old Belgian gelding. He is 18.1 hands high and the original vaulting horse for BHP. He began his career as a vaulting horse at age 6. His first national competition was in 1997, where Erik won a National Title on him. Since that time, Doc has carried Erik and many other competitors to national championships. In 2002, he accompanied Erik to Jerez, Spain to compete at the World Equestrian Games (WEG), being the first draft horse ever to compete at a WEG. In the time that he doesn't compete, Doc performs at spectacular horse events all across the country like the National Western Stock Show. In addition to all of that, Doc is very skilled in dressage, thanks to his experienced and patient trainer, Yossi Martonovich. ***NEW!!! Congratulations to Doc for winning the CHA "School Horse of the Year Award"! Yossi and Noel Martonovich received the award on his behalf in September 2007 in Orlando, FL. A model of Doc will be released for sale soon!***

CHALLEN

Challen is a 6 year old Belgian gelding. He joined the Big Horse team in 2007. Challen helps put the "BIG" in Big Horse Productions, as he stands 19 hands high, making him the tallest horse in the group! He has a lighter coat than the other horses and stands out above the rest. Challen has a long career ahead of him, as he will be working on liberty and ground techniques. He's come a long way and BHP is excited to have such a magnificent horse to share the spotlight with in the years to come!

RICO

Rico is also a 6 year old Belgian gelding who stands 18.1 hands high. He is currently working under saddle and as one of the members of the 8-Horse Roman Riding hitch. He has a fantastic, sweet personality that makes him one of a kind and very easy to work with. These days, Rico is learning as much as he can to develop his gates under saddle with his friends at BHP. One day, perhaps he will be one of the main vaulting horses in the bunch, but until then you will see him Roman Riding in performances nationwide beside his partner Joe and even in the 8 horse roman riding hitch.

JOE

Joe is a 12 year old, 18.1 hand Belgian gelding. He came to BHP in 2007 and he is another sweet soul and great asset to the hitch. Joe had absolutely no problems adapting to Roman Riding or having people doing tricks on his back! Within a few days, it was no big deal. This has been the case with everything with this awesome guy. He makes an wonderful companion and having his energy around is helpful for some of the more high-strung horses, as it calms everyone down. Joe is happy in his new home here at BHP and we couldn't be happier to have him around!

LANCE

Lance is also an 18.1 hand Belgian draft horse. He is 6 years old. Although Lance is very green in his training, we have seen major potential for so many things in him. Lance is one of our next star vaulting horse prospects. He has an innocent and flighty personality, with a sweet, loving side that is impossible to ignore! Right now, we are working on building a trusting relationship with him and he has taken to everything beautifully. He has even come so far to put him in the lead team for the 8 horse hitch! For the first time in early 2008 he has been in front of an audience, lights, and music performing all over the nation! He has a naturally wonderful canter and we are really excited to see his progress on the way to future vaulting acts as well. Big Horse is lucky to have such a talented guy to work with!

TRAVIS

Travis is a 7 year old Belgian gelding. He is the second tallest horse st BHP, standing 18.3 hands high. Travis is fairly new to roman riding as well. In the past, however, he has worked in a team and even participated in a six-horse driving hitch. This has made it easy for him to adjust to the Roman Riding trainings with us. Travis is one of the best horses used to train other horses for Roman Riding because he's steady, calm, and easy to get along with. He knows his job and he does everything that's asked of him! This is a rare trait in such a young horse and he makes a fabulous addition to the team. Along with that, it must be said that Travis is by far the most people-friendly horse in the bunch. If he could fit in your lap, that's where he would stay! We are excited to see what's in store for Travis in Las Vegas and beyond!

RED

Like the others, Red is a Belgian gelding. He stands 18.1 hands tall. He's 9 years old and joined BHP in 2007. Red's beautiful coat and unique markings make him stand out in the herd! He has an amazing personality and learns very quickly. His confirmation and natural gait make him absolute eye-candy for any horse lover out there. He now has his place in the 8 horse hitch along with Lance in the lead, but also has great potential as a future vaulting horse for Big Horse Productions. In exploring his potential, we have found impressive gates, a willingness to please, and a sound mind. These three traits definitely mark him for future success in many different areas. It's also nice to have another photogenic guy to add to the bunch. Perhaps Red will be the next poster-horse for BHP! All that being said, we feel both excited and fortunate to be working with him as a future star here in Las Vegas!
